El Matador beach tonight
Posted By: andi, 10-24-2009, 09:09 PM

Taken tonight with my new 35DA. A hard test for the K-7 sensor
and I'm kind of disapointed. A lot of noise in the shadows at ISO 100...
Luckly the post tools are quite good these days

Absolutely gorgeous shot, but is the horizon off just a little?

Fine scene captured beautifully.
The low-key style suits well.
Pity the ISO 100 was disappointing - did you have to push exposure up at all in PP?
How long was the exposure for?

It's only this kind of backlit shots which gives many sensors troubles.
I even see some of that noise in the backlit blacks in my Canon 5D MkII.
Didn't push it at all, just used Noiseware Pro and it works really well.

The shot is pretty much the original, I only used another one for the sky,
the sky was probably around 1/160, the lower portion 2,3 stops longer...

It sounds like the sensor's dynamic range may have been exceeded. Next time try the built in HDR feature and see if that helps.
