I prefer the B&W mainly due to the eye color in the color shot. JIM

In clolor she looks happy in BW she looks pensive - neither bad just different emotions.

I'm 75% B&W but on these I prefer color.

In this case the color works better for me.

They are both great photos, but I am leaning more towards the B&W.

Both are great Peter.
I agree that the bluish tinge to her eyes in the colour version is a little distracting, but the rest of the colours complement quite well. I especially like the blend of primary colours in the bokeh complementing the portrait.

Ditto on the color of eye coloor. Who of us has blue "whites" of our eyes (unless we want to, of course)?

I like both versions, with the edge to B&W. Mind sharing what your camera settings were?

The blown out sky right next to her head is more distracting in the colour, but the softness of her face is more visible in black and white. The jacket is the sharpest part of the picture.
That being said the B&W has more promise

There is good delineation between the subject and background in the BW version. Simpler and cleaner. In the colour version, the subject is competing with, and not in harmony the background. As to the sky, well I would not describe it as blown out but simply white. White skies in urban and rural landscapes are almost unavoidable and that may be why Photoshop was invented
