I'm back............
Posted By: sawtooth235, 11-06-2009, 07:19 AM

Its been a while since I visited the gallery section. I hope everyone is well. These were taken at the Juno Beach Pier a few weeks ago. I was caught with limited resources so I did the best I could with a Vivitar 200mm f3.5 and 2x teleconverter on my Samsung GX-1L. Thanks for any comments or critiques.

I wish the first photo was more in focus, a little crisper and that could be a front page shot. I know it's hard with fast moving sports, but maybe a smaller aperture?

The second one looks like he is facing his fate below him. A very sharp excellent capture.

Yep, good one in #2, apart from the purple fringing at the bottom.
#1 is slightly off.
Thanks for sharing these.

Yeah, that first one is more a lack of image quality caused by the old teleconverter. If I sharpen it the artifacts get bad really quickly. It was taken at 1/500th of a second at f8 with ISO set to 400.

The second one is without the teleconverter so the image quality is much better, but it is a 30 year old non-multicoated lens so the purple fringing in the over-exposed areas is expected.

It is asshame the first one blurry. The second one,I probably would have cropped it in ,bring the surfer closer to the frame, but otherwise a pretty good shot.
