Closeup on orchid with K-x at iso100 to iso12800
Posted By: tcom, 11-07-2009, 09:48 AM

Hi everyone

Long time since my last posting on this forum.

Two weeks ago, I bought myself a K-x. It is a pretty nice little camera, for me for the days I want to have something smaller and lighter than the K-7, though, the K-x is not that much smaller. The handling of the K-x is certainly not on the same level as the K-7, but it delivers quite remarquable IQ.

I wanted to compare again the K-x at different iso speeds, but as the weather outside does not really allow to take a lot of photos, I tried it on an orchid.

I put the K-x on a tripod and attached the Voigtlander 125/2.5 lens, then I took a photo at several iso speeds. I took all the shots in RAW and converted them with default settings under Lightroom 2.5:

(clicking on the photo brings you to the full resolution image)

4s, f/8, 100iso

2s, f/8, 200iso

1s, f/8, 400iso

1/2s, f/8, 800iso

1/4s, f/8, 1600iso

1/8s, f/8, 3200iso

1/15s, f/8, 6400iso

1/30s, f/8, 12800iso

Just goes to show that even at high ISO the shot is acceptable from a remarkable camera its just after 1600 that its noisy but on a 6X4 print nothing too harsh TFS

cheers
