Green Lake, green forest
Posted By: scole, 11-09-2009, 09:38 PM

Despite guaranteed rain, I travelled to Mount Rainier National Park for my semi-annual trek to Green Lake. It's been a favorite of mine since it's a nice, short hike located in the less visited northwest corner of the park. Repeated flood damage to the road in the park forces you to now hike the road to get to the trailhead (making it a 10 mile roundtrip day). It's not all bad because it allows you to enjoy the temperate rainforest that you'd normally zoom through in your car.

I hoped for early season snowfall at the lake and got my wish. The constant rain during the day chilled me to the bone so I did stay long at the lake. Besides, a steady rain/sleet made for challenging conditions.

1. Green Lake in steady rain (7 shot pano) (DA 12-24)

2. Green Lake (DA 12-24)

3. Ranger Falls on the way to Green Lake (DA 12-24)

4. Ranger Falls (DA 55-300)

5. Window with a view (DA 12-24)

6. Green Lake Trail (DA 12-24)

7. Windfall (DA 12-24)

8. (DA 12-24)

9. (DA 18-55)

Thanks for looking...

Like a breath of fresh air, these images are.
Thanks for sharing them Steve.
They're all lovely, but I particularly like 1 and 5.
Well done.

Very nice - what a surprise (NOT!)

The lake and the falls pics are beautiful shots. #1 really captures a winter day in the Pacific Northwet

enjoy this series, especially numbers 1+6... beautiful vista in 1, and the perspective and colors in 6 give it a special appeal.....

Appreciate all the comments. #6 is my personal favorite although #8 as been growing on me. I might head back there this weekend because there is a shot in the same vein as #5 which I didn't originally shoot due to the late hour of the day. It's been really bugging me!
