That's a beast! Even though it was up in the sky, did you have to use a superwide to get it all in? :P

180 is kind of wide when you want to shoot planes

It's airplanes like that that gave us the term "Aluminum Overcast." The first was the B-36. Neat shots.

I wonder how many folks even remember the B-36? They are restoring one here at the local Joint Reserve Base....for the last 10 years I keep wondering if it will ever fly....

I was riding my bike to school one day when a big shadow blocked out the sun. I looked up to see a B-36 overhead at low altitude. I was so enthralled I forgot I was riding the bike and I ran into the back of a car. Almost ruined the family jewels!

Those A380s are a sight to behold.
Ever seen one of those up close and personal?

At Farnborough 2008, close enough to have a ton of crap blown into the lens hood by the jet exhaust.

Nice shots, it's pretty crazy to think that you only needed a 180mm.
I just read up on the B-36, never heard of them before, what a crazy plane!! I can't believe that such a thing was built, incredible.

If you ever have the chance, watch the movie Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart. It has some beautiful inflight footage of the B-36 and also the B-47.

I apologize if I've hijacked your post.

wtlwdwgn - thanks for the info.

Zav, on second look, I see it is very low! I see you are from Reunion, Bonjour. I would love to visit your island one day.

There's Three A380's in this shot

I guess I'm pretty lucky that Sydney Airport has probably the most A380 movements outside of Toulouse, where the planes get built.

Nope but the first time I saw one taxiing past, and then taking off, I was surprised at how quite it was. To be honest though, I still prefer the 747.
