A couple from today:



Our Northern Water Snakes have a habit of coiling around dock cleats- it can give you a bit of a shock when you have your boat tied to a cleat and when untying your rope you grab a snake by mistake.



Still not sure what kind of snake this is- it was nasty, though, striking at the camera lens just after I took this shot...

Tom - great shots of one of my favorite local reptiles. I believe that #2 is probably a juvenile Northern Water Snake... that's what they look like during their first 1-2 years... very similar to a juvenile Black Rat Snake. There's a creek near here that we visit in the summer and there are, literally, hundreds of them there on any given day. This will be my first year to visit with a camera
