Once in a lifetime capture there. Great eye. My father used to say that a great photographer was the one who sees things others dont and I think this fits in that category.

Makes sense. A full tank would be worth considerably more than this car.

Thats funny, reminds me of the 1970's people were desperate for gas. People were selling their big cars cheap too

So sad, you know this guy (or the owner before him) had to have had a problem with someone stealing the gas out of this car. That is the pits, but does make for a thought provoking image.

It is funny and thought provoking. The gas would be worth more than the car. I noticed you said 'while driving home'. This car is clearly in motion so I assume you were as well. Not a bad shot for one handed, thru the windshield capture. I guess you just pointed the camera and hoped to get it in the frame. It's a testament to the quick AF on the camera.

Yes...l shot this shot with the my Pentax K100D...one handed thru the windshield, moving vehicle and laughing when I did it.....there was no guess or hope about it. I was confident my Pentax would get it....with the correct setting...
Chris thanks for the compliment...I am speechless and humbled.

Sorry Eastern Shore Charlie, I didn't intend to be critical at all. I was assuming you didn't put the camera to your eye while driving. That you did your best to aim the camera at the right spot and get it in the frame. Clearly a job well done and not easy I'm sure. Particularly while laughing!! I totally agree with Chris. New and unique photos whether creative or funny (or both) are hard to find. You did a great job of seeing something different and seizing a unique opportunity. It's also a great example of how SR helps since a moving car creates a ton of vibration, particularly one handed.

The sad part is that from what I understand most gas thieves around British Columbia, Canada don't go through the filler cap now.
They either punch a hole in the bottom of your tank or cut 1 of the fuel lines for your petrol

Thankfully the local thieves live in the next town, and do most of their damage around there

Yeah, sad, but true...that 88 on the back end of that car is the $$$$'s it takes to fill up each time.

That's quite a statement of contemporary society, Charlie, all encapsulated in a single photo. And it could be interpreted to mean our barricading ourselves from the rest of the world, too. A simple yet meaningful shot...

Best Wishes,
Steve
