When time stands still
Posted By: wllm, 11-22-2009, 02:21 PM

These pictures are inside a very small abandoned house, everything is shot as I found it. There were also magazines and "news"papers from 1972.

This house looks not just old, but very old.
#1 is a beautiful textural image.

Thanks Ash, lots of these house are very old, and mostly the owners also, and sometimes they've got more then one. Younger people doesn't want live in the countryside.

Number 1 is very good with rich textures, if I could change anything it would be to make the DOF just a little deeper so that all the leaves were in focus.
2, 3 and 4 are pretty good as historical documents but it would have been nice to see a bit more creativity.
Number 5 is time(less), sorry, I couldn't resist that.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

A neat series, and welcome to the forum. You've really captured the forlorn feeling of an old, abandoned house.

Actually, it’s not that old (see fixtures, probably 1940s; newspapers 1972). What’s striking is how quickly things deteriorate? It would be interesting to see the exterior.

Many calculate that, without regular maintenance, NYC would look that in about 50 years.

Thnx everyone for your reactions, I appreciate comments and hope to learn about these comments.
@Gary, the DOF is short I agree, sometimes difficult to make a choice especially with the DA 35 Macro Limited.
@tmacdon, old? what is old? maybe its from the 40's maybe older, I don't Know, but the outside is not that interesting. You're probably right what you say about New York, but I don't think it will come that far...

This not the house of these pictures, but it looks like this one, but with a rooftop.

I like all but the window shot. I think it has little too much white open area which dominates. And your excellent landscape shot shows that all goeth back to the earth.
