Pets: Portraits of a Labrador...
Posted By: heliphoto, 11-25-2009, 12:26 AM

Just snapped these today of my neighbors Lab...

The background glow is from some bright changing leaves back-lit by the setting sun.

All are at 275mm, f/8, 1/100, ISO 800 with the Canon 5DII and the 100-400 L IS.

Ash, those "enhanced" smilies are hilarious - this is the first time I've seen 'em here and they made me LOL last night (which was bad 'cause the rest of the family was sleeping ). Thanks for looking and commenting!

Thanks - the third is my favorite as well - He's a "he" actually, but since I didn't include any of the identifying bits, there's no way for you to know that... He's really big for a lab and spoiled, so a bit overweight.

Thanks - the bokeh grabbed me on chimping a snapshot, so I recomposed to maximize it around Buddy's head (of course he's named Buddy - aren't around 80% of Yellow Labs named Buddy?)

Cool shots. But I am with no-2. Really like his attentive, almost sad look.

#3 is a wonderful photo, great colors.

Lab looks like he needs to do a bit more running tho.. or is that the Canon?

Thanks JMR - I too like #2, but #3 is my favorite and appropriate since labs are almost always smiling.

Thanks, glad you like 'em... Indeed, his owner spoils him rotten without him getting to run all that much... He's a big dog!
