Rec League Hockey Heroes
Posted By: Nowhere Matt, 11-25-2009, 12:17 PM

I tested myself for the first time last week and went to a local ice rink to do some shooting. I know a few of the guys that were playing this night so some were shot from the bench.
I could not find a good white balance during the shoot so most of these were edited with software and cropped. I was using my K10 at iso 1600 and using a Tamron 100-300mm at f6.7 or f8 most often. Still not fast enough for much of the action as 1/125th shutter speed was also an average. Really made me rethink getting a K20 or rob a bank and get the K7.
Anyway... I just wanted to share a few of what I thought were the better shots.

There's something about those monochrome shots that appeals to me.
Nice action captures here.

I like the first one because of the dream-like oof areas and focus on the goalie.
The ice spray in the third one communicates motion and emotion very well.
Great job!
