I thought this was going to end badly, but it in the end the hawk left the squirrel alone and just flew away. The image probably could have been a bit sharper if I wasn't doing holding a 3 week old with my left hand or if I had my 300mm lens, but I figured I'd post it anyway

A good capture considering its a one handed snapshot while holding a baby. It appears to be a "surprise!" moment for you, the squirrel, and the hawk.

Certainly not the safest situation for the squirell, but the hawk's advantage is in the air. An interesting confrontation to capture!

Yeah, it was weird. The squirrel kept approaching the hawk, almost taunting him, and the hawk would just spread its wings a little and the squirrel would back off. But it went on like that for a couple minutes before the hawk finally flew away. Not as exiciting as it could have been, but with my toddler also watching, it's probably best the shot didn't get any more "exciting".

Wow, that didn't even cross my mind, that would have been a great idea. I have to remember the K7 does video too!

Just like on some DVD's you can get alternate endings

this one did indeed end badly
