Football : Vanier cup pictures
Posted By: bdery, 11-29-2009, 08:46 AM

I had a nice view from the field at yesterday's Vanier Cup in Quebec city (the Vanier cup is the college football's championship in Canada). Here are some of my favourites, full gallery listed below (27 pics).
Most shot with the Pentax FA 100-300 f4,7, almost always at 300 mm and f7,1. A few were shot with the Vivitar series 1 70-210 f3,5. (Photobucket seems to have doensampled my pics in a weird way... sorry for that)
Enjoy!

Great stuff bdery,
My only suggestion would be to use a faster shutter speed to freeze the action if possible.
That was a super game as well. Go Gaels!!

I would have liked to... I was at ISO 800, and to get good performances out of the FA 100-300 I prefer to use it at f7,1 or smaller when possible. It gets softer otherwise. The vivitar is usable at f4, but has less reach. A bright Sun would have helped a lot

A great game indeed. I'd rather have yelled Go Rouge & Or, though.

Select. I always use that mode. Most of the time the central point is selected, but I like to be able to move the AF point around when needed.

The Vivitar is amazing colours-wise, and the FA is impressive as well, better than expected.

Thanks for commenting!

Good ones. These are hard to master, particularly if you don't have the location to get the best results.
Yes, these would look great with more frozen action and it'd come out better with more isolation of the subjects. But well done.
