A few recent bird shots
Posted By: mole, 11-29-2009, 01:58 PM

Late Fall in Tennessee is a great time for birds, and a great time to get out and photograph them. Here are a few recent shots from in & near home. Would be delighted for any feedback/critique!
Lots of Black Vultures congregating along our lake shore. These two were sunning in a Sycamore tree.

Titmice are busy in the young woods, in mixed flocks with many other small insect-eating and seed-eating birds.

It's easier to spot the Pileated Woodpeckers when the leaves are down.

And our Tennessee State Bird - Mockingbird - is very busy these days defending the berry thickets.

(All taken with K-M and 135-600 F6.7)

Great work with that 135-600 zoom mole.

Quite the array of wildlife there. I especially like #4. We don't have those in this area.

Well done.

Three of these images stand out for me. The mockingbird has many qualities that make it an excellent capture. The pileated is a nice capture too. The pose and saturation make it powerful.

I really like the high key effect of the black vultures in the sycamore. That perhaps is my favorite.

Last one is stunning.
The lighting, the texture, the detail... all tops.
Well done with that one.
The others lack spot-on focusing but aren't all too bad either.

Nice bird shots! I know how hard it is to get Pileated Woodpeckers. Your Mockingbird is spot-on!
