Moon Test - K-x vs K20D
Posted By: HogRider, 12-03-2009, 05:09 PM

Just for comparison. The time on the K-x was supposed to be 1/125th instead of 1/90th.

Well by test the K-x seems to be an overall clearer image at 800 than the K20d at 400.Did you take a image with iso 400 on the K-x,just to see if that image is even better again? Also the K20D looks like it's on the bluer side of the whiteness compared to the K-x image.

Both look fine to me, other than the K20D's moon is bigger than that of the K-x's.

Maybe that could be the difference in the overall image, the cropping! If you crop one in more then the other, then you can't really make a proper judgement on the two.But as I said the first time, what you have posted, the K-x quality looks better.Get the moons cropped equally and on the same iso's aswell.

They have been resized by the same amount. The K20D is bigger because the sensor is bigger. Both were taken with the same lens at 600mm.

How much bigger is the K20D's sensor? I never thought about sensor size differences between APS-C cams.

Not in physical size but in screen pixels.

K-x 4288 x 2848
K20D 4672 x 3104

Gotcha.
I knew the difference in resolution but not in sensor size.
Cheers.

Regardless, wouldn't a genuine comparison require two equal sized images?

That's what I thought, but it's the different sensor size that causes the size difference in the moons,so I won't argue with that.

What's with the equal shutter speeds at different iso's?
Are the sensitivities wrong, or you just changed aperture or pushed in post process?
Why it is K20D-x?

Pretty moon capture btw.. it feels very..hmm.. round or spherical i'd say, nice.

Do you have 2 similar lenses of that Vivitar model since both photos are taken at the exact same time with the exact same lens?

I adjusted brightness in post processing to give them about the same amount of brightness for viewing. The K20D-x is a typo.
