My Heron Buddy

More amazing shots Jim... I'm beginning to suspect that that is actually a stuffed heron though. I can't get within a hundred feet of the ones in my area.

It was so frustrating for a long time trying to get close4 enough given I just have a 200mm. I have two locations I can now park at and wait for them to come. I also just bought a blind which will help moving forward. JIM

Too funny Mike. I know. They are one of the hardest to get close to. For one reason or another they don't mind my car. Shot these out my window about 8 feet away. I waited 30-40 minutes for him / her to come though. Cheers JIM

phenomenal pics.... here in rhode island... i can't get within 100 feet before the herons get a look at me and beat a hasty retreat !!

That is the key to detail alright Josh. A old timer once told me "try to get so close you can almost tough them or have a 600mm like he did" and it was a pentex 600 too. I thing of beauty it was. JIM
