My Heron Buddy
Lens: 200 Camera: K20 ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F3.5

What were you using the macro lens? At 8 feet it could have been.

Too funny Tom. I knew you would appreciate the photos and how difficult it is to get this close. I just picked up a blind which I still have not used. JIM

Those are great. The detail - specifically - the eye watching the water in 1 & 2 reminds us the Heron is a predator. Awesome.

Very cool -- I like the different perspective and detail, and you nailed the focus on the eye where it counts!

I've had a few instances--in my case more luck than anything--where big birds got really close, but the minimum focusing distance on my 400 is around 12 feet so I couldn't get anything.

O.K....I give up Gee...after looking at these...makes me want to give up shooting birds Spectacular comes to mind!

You would be surprised what they will eat. Just about anything in or near the water. Appreciate you looking and commenting. JIM

I shot 1000's of crappy ones before even coming close to these. Its surprising how the little thngs makes a difference right down to a soft shutter tough. JIM
