Mile High Skyline
Camera: Pentax K-x
Posted By: nate_b, 12-12-2009, 05:05 AM

A shot of the Denver skyline from my trip to the Mile High City over Thanksgiving. We were walking to the football stadium to catch the Broncos/Giants game, when I stopped to snag this photo. Thanks for looking.

Good cityscape, nate. Any reason why it has been cropped?

Good one Nate.
A good-looking cityscape and well done B&W conversion.
Those foreground signs bother me though.

Thanks to all for your comments - much appreciated. I'm yet to really know what I'm doing with B&W conversions (using GIMP with to desaturate and tweak until it looks OK to me), so I was pleasantly surprised with how this conversion turned out. Mostly luck.

boodiespost - I was born and lived in Ft. Collins until I was 12, but have always had family in Denver and go back frequently. I love that city/area. Good eye pointing out those landmarks!

paul - I cropped the image as a matter of personal preference. The foreground was a cement barrier (to which the sign in the picture was attached), and not all that attractive. It detracted from the cityscape too much for my liking, as I found the cityscape the more attractive subject. I should have just zoomed some more, in hindsight, but had just one shot as we were walking to the game.

Ash - Your honest feedback is always appreciated. The signs bother me a bit, too. I was hoping to have one point of interest in the foreground, but wish I'd had a chance to take another shot without the signs in view. Oh, well...I'm still pleased with the image overall considering the circumstances.

I'm with Ash,if you remove the signs at the front, you have a great image. To me I can't appreciate the cityscape properly because the signs take my eyes away from that.Try a bit of cloning and remove the signs.
