Diamond Rain

It was about -15°C today and beautiful diamond-like frosty snow was falling slowly.
Sun colored the scene really beautifully and I hopefully managed to get that magical feeling into this picture.

I think this would work alot better on full resolution, now it looks like bad noise.

We accept all the manipulation that goes on in the digital world, so from my point of view, we have to accept that natural phenomena actually may look like grain or noise. Great image, with grain, noise, rain or sleet or whatever else, the magic is there, like layers of mist and rain and trees.

Certainly different.
I do prefer the more natural, clean, sharp look, particularly in a scene like this one, but appreciate this version for the creative use of noise employed.

But Ash, the point is, it is not noise but atmosphere, like a thick haze.

Its actually quite hard to capture snowfall in a explaining way. And its something else to see it gently falling or blazing sideways.

Maybe i'll shot some snowfall for you then, it may look noisy to

It certainly helps if one has seen this kind of scene.
Thanks!

Yup, those are snow flakes.
I uploaded full res version but there isn't much more clarity what comes to flakes even when viewed in full size.

Really interesting shot, as with the others it takes a little while to realise the photo contains lots of falling snow Helps that I have seen weather like this before in person.

Well done in capturing it, would be pretty hard I guess.

I almost never know what I'm talking about when it comes to photography but I am one of those disgusting people :ugh:who know what they like and I really like this one Joni. There is something almost ethereal about it and imparts a sense of days past.
