Storm #2
Posted By: photo_mom, 06-14-2007, 03:49 PM

Monday, storm #2 rolled through. Well, it was actually several different cells. This one went SE of us. I liked how the cloud was shaped like the top of the tree. This cell just blew on by. You could hear the thunder in the distance, though.

Twenty minutes later, a different cell seemed like it would give us some rain but it passed on by, too, almost directly overhead.

Just to give an idea of the size of this cloud, the white spec in the top left is an airplane (Yeah, I know it's a perspective thing, but it was a huge thunderhead!):

Taken 3 seconds later, the huge cloud had expanded even further:

Again, the spec at the lower right is an airplane:

This one, taken 8 minutes later, looked like it was going to be a very powerful storm, but it fizzled as well:
(A vertical merge of 4 photos taken w/*istDS Zenitar 16mm 1/1500s 200ISO f5.6) It’s neat how this one mirrors the tree line, too.
