Downy Woodpecker (2 images)
Lens: SMC Pentax M 400/5.6 Camera: Pentax K10d ISO: 200

Had a little success with the Downy Woodpecker today.

Sadly, in this backlit situation the CA issues of the old M 400/5.6 are all to evident. Too bad as the bird really pops out against this background.

You've done well under the circumstances Tom.
The overcast conditions make for flat lighting and ordinary backlit scenes.
But these are perfectly focused and well exposed.

I think it's not so difficult to remove some of those CA in CS3
go filter-->distort-->lens distortion--> and look there.. sliders to remove blue yellow fringe.. or purple fringe..

Thanks Jan,

Pretty pleased with the first one. I'm hoping to have a calendar made to give to my friends when I get a dozen good bird images. After 3 years I have four I wouldn't be too embarassed to use. At this rate in another 6 years I'm good to go.
