What a great photo! I like the fact that the bee is still in flight. Very nice color and detail!

So is the 50-200 a good lens then?

Great shot and what a good use of the lens you have mounted at the moment when a macro style is needed. I notice the speed is 1/180th -Is that for highest possible flash synch? If so which flash are you using? Nicely balanced fill in any case.

Yeah, I would say the 50-200 is a good lens I use it quite a lot.

In this case I specifically used it - my macro set up would never have kept up with a flying bee (extension tubes, full manual everything) - focusing distance is way too close, manual focus for me is typically only good on subjects that don't move much plus, I don't like getting real close to bees....

Yes, 1/180th was used because I had my 540 flash firing. It was dusk and the lighting wasn't great - with the 50-200 at 200, I would not have gotten a hand-holdable shutter without some external lighting...
