BW Conversion- resting in the sun
Posted By: mediaslinky, 06-15-2007, 12:44 PM

New version- slightly blurred couch.

Original

DS, Kit lens.

Exposure: 0.167 sec (1/6)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 800

I did a bit more PP to imitate softer focus on the couch.

Aah, perfect lighting for a B&W conversion! Very nice.

Colors and lighting are very important for conversion, gotta "see in B&W" to spot shots like these.

Cheers,

Great! A picture to my taste. I like the light and the contrast and the soft feeling to the boy. The a post from me wouldn't be complete without some nitpicking: I think I would have softened the right part of the picture. Now the pillow is sharper than the boy and it shouldn't be so.

imho that is,

So, you're suggesting using the lasso tool to select the pillow and soften it with a blur of some kind?

Added an altered version in the original post. Very slight blurring on the couch.

And it does look better after the blurring. Or at least I think so.
The picture is so dreamy and esotheric that there shouldn't be disturbing, or sharp, things around the boy. Maybe even more blurring? That can only the "postprocesser" say.

And no, I didn't think of lasso tools. I would just take the blur tool and experiment with different strengths and wave around until I got satisfied.

regards,

i like it, it's just a shame about the boy's head not being very crisp. nice shot though.
