Jan, Great series with difficult contrasts done well.

Playing with my mouse wheel really seemed to show the value of your shots. For the first, noticed that cropping from the top to leave sky above the left side tree with a little less volume than your dark ground area appears to give the justified prominence to it [the tree]. Similarly on the third, cropping to a little above the right hand tree gave focus and more emphasis on the perspective.
On your second, a crop down to where the lower cable begins (and their cloning out) looks like a great balance on the tones.

That said; dismiss all the above. Am totally unable to crop any of my shots to anything but the 3:2 format (check any of this idiot's posts). Still find it too difficult - feels like the shot was composed wrongly rather than my miselection on focal length.

Thanks for sharing your good work.

jan, you really captured the essence of the fog nicely. i like #1 best, with just a hint of that row of trees peeking through the fog. also, i cant tell for sure if you applied toning but if so, it is a nice subtle effect and compliments the images.

I like the 2nd one. The open gates seem to be drawing me in.. to go explore in the fog.

I like them all, but my definite favourite is nr.3 actually!

I love the lines in that image, and the calm feeling in all of them. Good work there, and a very nice b&w-conversion

I like all three of them Jan and the first one is probably the best but my favourite would be number two. It has good depths perception, I feel like standing right there. With a little cropping and some cloning it would easily become #1.

Thank you Heinrich...for the kind words and the advice I really need to take the time and do some proper PP. Seems like I'm always in a hurry and post them right out of the camera...or do as little as possible in the PP department
