An MV Agusta and Ducati photoshoot
Camera: k20d Photo Location: Tucson, AZ ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: >6s Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: ChainbreakR, 01-01-2010, 03:46 PM

My dad has a small collection of Italian motorcycles and, surprisingly, he's never had any really nice pictures taken of them over the years.

So, as I was visiting him in Tucson, AZ this past weekend, we had some long exposure fun with an amazing background! Most exposures are 10 seconds with, of course, two off camera flashes shot through white umbrellas with the exception of the BW and the wheel shot. All pictures are with the 18-55 AL kit lens.

Let me know what you think!

Fantastic backdrop for a classic bike in Ducati.

I'm reallying liking that first shot of the Augusta Agostini, possibly a bit washed out though?

For work I stayed in a hotel up north that had MV's in the lobby, both the owners. One a Limited edition F4 1000 Tamburini and a 750 Senna.

Much jealousy

Thanks for the great words and comments, guys!! Means a lot....I'll throw up another where we lit the cactus via flashlight during the exposure...

Fruitloops- Wow! Those Tambi's aren't cheap....

Piotr- See my other thread for scantily clad girls. I like your idea about my dad being in the pic, though. He has 4 other bikes so next time I get down there, I'll throw him in one!

I get to see quite a few bike shots and these are perhaps some of the most imaginative I've come across for a long time. Well done, I love 'em! (and that's from a Triumph man )

Justin.

I really like #'s 1, 2, 4 + 5. Beautiful shots of beautiful bikes. Like the cactus desert scene in the background.

Tell your dad that he has great taste in bikes. I'm also a fan of motorcycles...I have a '67 Matchless G15CS 750cc Scrambler or Desert Sled and a '78 Yamaha SR500 (big single).

Nice shots mate. I like the composition of first shot the best, but the red is lacking a bit of punch.

I'm a Kawasaki man myself, but I can always admire these things Thanks for sharing.

Wow, kind words! JustinR, that's flattering to hear...I really appreciate it! I have some other ideas for the other bikes when I'm out there

Fractal- I tried saturating the red more, but it ended up losing all of the detail and lines....

That MV design is over 10 years old yet it still looks fresh and beautiful. Tamburini is one of the best bike designers of all time!

That 900ss Duck ain't half bad either

I like the strong vignetting - it feels like the bikes are under a strong spotlight, like they are stars, which in fact they are. Any front 1/4 shots of these beauties, and what else does you dad have in the stable?

Well done.

I was looking through the threads here and it seems there are quite a few bikers amongst our number. Perhaps we should have a 'show me yours' thread (but let's wait until I've got some nice piccies of mine ).

Justin-That's a great idea!

John- So true...such a timeless design, much like the original 916.

My dad also has:

-74 Laverda 1000cc
-69 Ducati Scrambler
-750cc Monster customized to look just like the '79 SS (minus the front fairing)
- '07 MV Agusta Brutale
