Hugely enlarged from the original frame due to current lack of Zoom lens. This little fellow lets me get to within about 8-10 feet before flitting away.

50-200mm WR for the ist now ordered and in the post hopefully.

Well the 50-200 arived today and just had time to get this of the same Robin in fading afternoon light.

F5.6, 200mm, iso 800, 1/125th Pentax ist handheld. Shot to RAW then lightened 1/2 stop, WB 'Cloudy', image cropped to around half original frame.

Given all that It didn't turn out too bad. The blur around his head is an out of focus leaf as far as I can tell.

Doing alright for the kit lens.
You're limited with no SR and the slow speed of the 50-200, but you'll just get better with time. :0

I was quite pleased with the result given the circumstances until I saw Nitroks pictures (3 Birds) and then I realised there is an awful long way to go with my nature photography! Oh well, that's one of the joys of places like this, a regular kick in the pants is rarely a bad thing.
