Sometimes images suggest a black and white treatment, and this is what I felt with this almost blue-white image of rapids and ice floes.

Something different - it's pleasant, but I'd probably prefer the colour version.
If the B&W had more contrast it'd probably pop out a little more.
But again, classic JMR.

Thanks Ash, but the light was flat and overcast and I can't increase the contrast too much because the dark areas turn black.

I'd be more worried about the whites being too hot. I would have had the blacks a little darker but that's just me.

In any case, it's a nice image JMR.

Many thanks. I actually had both problems and that's why I settled for the middle ground.

Just thought I would add one more image, which is more interpretive than documentary.

Sort of, but it is not literal, so it doesn't matter how it was processed. This one is just for fun because I was taken by the green.

Thanks, it interpretive not documentary. It simply expresses a cold-fresh feeling that I wanted to convey. Of course it was not green and white to that degree.

Both are terrific, JMR, but there's a freshness about the B&W one that I find very pleasing.

Thanks. You expressed what I felt when I got home and saw the first image.
