More Nooksack..
Camera: K10d Photo Location: Washington State

Another day, another chance to explore one of the many locations I've identified for myself. Not too much to say other than it's apparent that a pair of waders or at the very least rubber boots are necessary to get to the most interesting parts of this river..

First, a couple shots of Galena Creek near the Mount Baker Ski Area

1. (DA 12-24)

2. (DA 55-300)

Onto the river. This location is around milepost 43 of the Mount Baker Highway (SR-542):

3. (DA 12-24)

4. 7 shot panorama (DA 18-55)

5. (DA 18-55)

6. (DA 12-24)

7. (DA 18-55)

8. (DA 55-300)

Thanks for looking..

I think the best image here is #5 followed by the last image. They all look good visually but those two offer more, IMO. JIM

Lovely images. You've done well with the exposures in the first two shots. Thanks for sharing.

Good work with the pano, my fave - well done.
#2 is also nicely composed.
Pleasant compositions - some may do with a little cooling down and slight boost in exposure to bring out the brightness of the whites.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

My personal faves concur with Jimbo- #5 and #8. I had a tough time with the post processing on the photos from this trip. I underexposed to make sure I didn't blow out the highlights in the snow but that left the photos overall a bit TOO underexposed. Typically I'm not too far off but, in this situation, accounting for the underexposure blew out the snow.

Normally, I'm able to just work with minor tweaks from the RAW file but #6 was my first attempt at blending two exposures (both from the same RAW). It works but it's a bit tedious. Did I mention it was raining steady during all of this?

No 5 is something to hang on the wall and contemplate forever, and there are not many photos you can say that of.

No 7 Shows the greenness of a forest without losing detail in a verdant mush, a difficult trick to pull but it looks really good from here.

Pictures like these just go to confirm that the term 'kit lens' is just far to derogatory for the 18-55. It's a little cracker at heart.

Justin.
