Stop down the aperture just a touch maybe?

I think he was trying to say that not enough of the dog is in focus, the aperture is too wide.

Otherwise it is a nice photo of a lovely dog. Would be better if the leash was off but then again a dog like that in that place would make himself right at home and run off into the bush

Might just be the image being attached causing loss of clarity and contrast.
