Actually Birds(s) and rare only in the sense that I can rarely get these suckers in focus. I managed (more-or-less) to do so in these shots while playing with my new DA 55-300 at the Sea Center here in Lake Jackson this afternoon.

Now I'm really anxious to get my hands on the DA 55-300. I just bought one and it should be delivered in the next few days.

I purchased due to the many bird picture opportunities nearby and the poor image quality I was getting with my current long lens.

Hope to post some shots of herons, egrets, wood storks, and roseate spoonbills before long.

Based on what I've seen so far, it looks like a very useful lens.
