Ahh... crisp macros!
Posted By: codiac2600, 06-20-2007, 05:00 PM

Went out to dragonfly city, or Midway Village pond, and tried to capture some fully matured dragonflies doing what they do and here you go everyone so please feel free tom comment and I think I did pretty good this outing.

Basic setup is K10D with Sigma 105mm 2.8 macro, af360 flash set to high speed sync on some shots, AV mode between f5.6 and f18 and of course lots of luck.

Hi Chris, you did good. Some really nice dragenflies, thanks for showing them. I haven't seen any in the garden yet and should go down to the creek, there should be plenty of them.

I highly recommend the Sigma 105mm as it's tack sharp at f4 and above not too mention the movement is solid and doesn't play around in manual which I shoot 99% of the time and will always do in macro. I'm actually in the market for the Sigma 150mm 2.8 macro now to give me a little more working distance which should mean more captures plus the price is right on it. Pentax really needs a niche macro lens... like a 130mm 2.8 or 200mm f4 and heck it can be fully manual for all I care ust make something crazy that kicks the pants out of the third party and give me a 2+ foot working distance!

Thank you for the kind words stu!

Chris,

Some very nice dragonfly shots. I really like 3 & 4.

#4 is like the rock-star dragonfly ready to go on stage...

Rock-star dragonflies... my head must be in an odd place today...

I think I'm ready for the weekend!!
