Have discovered the world of still life, no other aspect of photography has grabbed me quite as strongly as this has!

Spent an afternoon taking this image, I can be quite picky...

I wouldn't normally say I'm a fan of still life, but I like this image. I find a lot of interesting detail in there, and I wonder about the person that uses those items etc... Afternoon well spent I'd say.

cheers,

Works well - would have loved the colour version.
I'm sure the original comes up much finer than it appears here (JPEG compression at play again...)
Well done and thanks for sharing.

Ash, thank you and you're right, this really hasn't uploaded well at all, but I'm at a loss to know why this is worse than normal. I have the colour version too, I'll upload it tomorrow.

ooooh, nice one I like it,
I'd just probably add touch of sepia tone to it. but that's just me. I like it as it is...

Lainey -- That is a striking picture! I like it better in black and white. Very compelling!

I'm new here -- new to my camera, new to the forum. Is it kosher for us newbies to post comments here?

You have go about 250 Kbytes or over to maintain a good image because the upload compresses the image a bit.

I do find the bottom right crease somewhat distracting, but the layout and light is very good and the image is still pretty good.

JMR, thanks - both files are about 200kbs, but when uploaded have been shrunk to about 22kb. not surprising the quality has suffered!!!
