I Spy Ibis - Birds on the Brain
Posted By: Sailor, 01-12-2010, 03:51 PM

It finally got warm enough to drop the top on car and take a little cruise this afternoon. While doing so I dropped by the local Sea Center and grabbed these shots of some Ibis. It was great to get out on a beautiful day.

I wouldn't crop it. I hate squares! These are absolutely stunning images. It's rare to see the details of an Ibis captured so well. Most have the white feathers blown out.

those are great! i think the first would be a bit better/amazing if it had cropping like the second (lose that tree portion on the left).

crop the branch on the left of the first one out of the frame and you have a winner!
Thanks, guys. The first one was cropped a bit, but I left the out-of-focus branch in because the dimensionality it gave the shot. But, hey, further cropping is easily enough done. Here's the result.

Thanks - I do appreciate the kind words. I did try cropping (see above), but frankly I still prefer the original.

Thanks, buddy. I'm impressed with the lens: it's not especially expensive, seems to be contrasty and reasonably sharp, and - of particular interest to me - it's light and small enough to be easily borne by my scrawny frame!
