Ice Swan

I got this picture before filling my plate at a resort buffet (closed all restaurants for the event). The place filled up rather quickly after I shot it.

Used my DA* 16-50, and a little politeness to keep people out of frame.

A tough shot when you don't have the room to yourself, and can't control the lighting. Did you take a closeup of the head, by any chance? That might have been interesting, there look to be some nice patterns, and closer positioning might have thrown the background further out of focus. Anyway, good try, given the conditions.

A nice shot - particularly given the circumstances. Looks like you were "livin' large".

thanks! um, no i didn't i didn't get a close up. i had the wrong lens and the ice wasn't ideal imo. i just snapped it more as a documentary purpose than anything; so in a few years and i can say "oh yeah, and there was an ice swan..."

I'm kinda lucky, there's a competition held annually not far from my home. I'll shoot a series this year. It's fantastic to watch the carving.

here's one a shot last year from the competition. there's size classes
