Frozen Waterfall, etc

Back from some winter hikes in the Smokies, and wanted to share a few scenes.

Here's the view from Rich Mountain:

And here are a few views of a small waterfall at White Oaks Sinks. We got there just at the right time for the rainbow!

Thanks for any comments/critique!

Wow, great shots mole!
The second and third have somewhat disturbing highlights, can you repair those?
(And probably these two are tilted slightly too, aren't they?)
The last one is just stunning, it's surreal!
Well done, congrats!

Very cool - I've seen a rainbow in a waterfall before, but never surrounded by ice like that... Nice.

Rense - Thanks for the kind words and detailed feedback. Yes, I had a hard time with the dynamic range of sun on ice, and subtle rainbow. Perhaps an HDR shot might have worked. Will try playing with PP some more as time permits. Thanks!

Heliphoto - Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it! If you are ever in the Smokies, you should try to find this waterfall, and also Rainbow Falls - another one that sometimes has a bright rainbow. Down near Cookeville TN is a very impressive one called Burgess Falls that often shows a waterfall low down when the sun is right.

You have captured our favorite stomping grounds well. Love the series. The waterfall shots are fantastic, especially the last one. I've never seen a frozen rainbow so these were a treat. Thanks for posting them. Where is White Oak Sinks? We've been to both Rainbow Falls and Rich Mountains but haven't heard of the sinks. Susan

Nice series.
I could see the issue with 2 and 3 being overexposed - you wanted the rainbow to shine through.
Good results.

Slowpez - Thanks for the kind words. White Oaks Sinks is sort of a "miniature" Cades Cove - same geology, on a much smaller scale. It is NOT an official park trail, but a well-used trail off of Schoolhouse Gap trail. There are several trails in and out, some safer than others - so it's best to go with someone who knows the area. An awesome place for spring wildflowers as well...

Ash - Thanks! Yeah, I decided to expose for the rainbow, not the ice. A better photographer could probably have captured both.
