I'm getting better
Lens: 300mm Camera: K100D Photo Location: Veterans Park ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F11
Posted By: photolady95, 01-15-2010, 03:56 PM

I went to my favorite shooting spot today. The place where I saw the Ibis in the summer. No Ibis today but I found these guys very willing to let me shoot them.

I did not particularly like this one as he was heading away from me. But my brother did, so I'll post it anyway.

And this guy, I think needs a bit sharpening after uploading to flickr his/her head is a bit out of focus.

Shutter speed 1/500s; Focal length 300mm; F11.

I wish I could catch birds in motion as well as you've done here. I ain't that quick -maybe it comes from being an old geezer.

Nice series.

Thanks Jer, very nice compliments. The first two were hand held. The last two were on a tripod.

What age is an old geezer cause I'm 60.

I think it was a statement because my attempts to do this with a film camera I had just wasn't getting there. I don't know if the shots are better because I went digital or because I was concentrating more on what I was doing this time around. But I like this camera as it's lighter than my film cameras were, and it's easier to pan those birds in flight and get the shots.

Thanks for the compliment.

These aren't my first BIF but they're the first with my new digital.

Thanks for the nice compliment.

All you need is to keep practising. I wish I could shoot these little bitty birds in flight but the dern things are soooo fast!

Good way to go Jan.
Keep working on improving your work - always consider lighting, background and have your eye on the wildlife to see if they do anything interesting worth photographing.

Well done, and you aren't close to being a geezer yet. I'm almost 67, and I'm not a geezer. (My wife doesn't agree).

Thanks very much Rense. Glad you liked the first one.

Ash, did you mean to speak to Jan?

Tom, thanks. Glad to know I'm not an old geezer yet. Course I think that generalization of belongs to old men.
