Yin/Yang Birds...
Lens: 560mm effective Camera: 5DII Photo Location: Norcal foothills ISO: 800
Posted By: heliphoto, 01-15-2010, 11:47 PM

Just a snap shot I took today - the landing bird is a jay (I believe a Steller's Jay, but I'm far from an expert), they other I'm less sure of (it may also be a jay)...

shot with: 5DII, 100-400L, Kenko 1.4x TC.

Nice BIF in what I can tell was some difficult lighting I think you're right...they look like Steller's Jays to me too.

Thanks Jan - it was difficult lighting and I didn't nail the exposure, but it was fixable in post. The sky was white with sun shining through overcast, but I think that works to highlight the blue birds .

Tough shot to get right Josh.
A metering and CA-inducing conundrum.
Well done with it.

Thanks Ash - yeah, there was a bit of CA, mostly coloring the oof areas, but it was pretty well eliminated in Lightroom... and like I said, I did screw up the exposure, but not beyond repair (if you don't look too close).

Great shot!
Thank you both, glad you like the shot - it's not technically all that good, but I liked the positions of the birds...
