"My" Eagle.
Posted By: Tom Lusk, 11-23-2006, 07:35 PM

I was fortunate, approx. 5 years ago, to discover the first bald eagle nesting site in this region in over 60 years. It's on an island approx. 1/4 mile (400m) from my home.

The same pair has successfully raised 9 young over the years, but so far no second nest has been located.

Here's a shot of the male from today:

Gorgeous! It's awesome that you've kept up with the pair for 5 years.

So surreal and grandeous. And how lucky you are. It is a dream to see this creature in the wild.

So you do visit this eagle nest a lot? You used 300/4.5 for the shot. Were you quite close to the eagle? Sure it would detect your presence in the vincinity. I wondered whether it would attack you or scoop in a circle in the air?

Great shot, the eagle is placed beautifully and the background just soft enough to make him stand out.
