Sanctioned Graffiti

Hi,

I had a go at photographing some graffiti-style artwork today, after reading through this thread in the mini-challenges section: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/53990...-homes-10.html
I'm pretty sure this artwork was legally organised, it adorns a large wall next to a train station. Was certainly easy to capture the colour:

Wall Street!

C&C always welcomed...
cheers,
Jason

I like bright, colourful photos like this. Not sure what you can do to improve. Perhaps some PP of some sort that others could suggest but overall I like it

Last comment on your photos for a while, Goddo, so I'll make it good.
Brilliant colours captured well with a variety of angles and perspectives.

Graffiti shots tend to do well with grunge effects in PP - strong clarity and texture rendition, like with Topaz Labs filters, but also a selective colour boost for each colour group (if needed).

Of course, it also helps when the sky looks more dramatic and there aren't the shadows falling on the wall, but you can't have it all.
Hope this helps and take care mate.

Thanks for your comments Ash.
I still have a LOT to learn in regards to PP, but with these shots I either went with vivid colour or grainy B&W. I'll have a go some 'grunge' PP a bit later on I think. Thanks for the suggestions!
I went to this location very late in the day, but an unfortunate side effect was the long shadows being cast on the wall. Might need to try again in the morning.

You take care too, thanks for taking the time to comment cheers,

Nice work ... going on Ash's comments .... for other Melbourne graffiti .... have a look through the forum for "Distorted Vision"'s work ... he did a lot of street shooting around Melb with great effect.

These are fun to see, Jason. The colors are terrific - looks as if the artists put a lot of work into this mural.

Great job.

Thanks Simon, Jer.
I'll look that up sometime soon - I could use some examples and ideas.
Jer - I agree, lot of time and work put into this. I'll have to go back another time and get a better shot of the whole wall.

cheers,

I like the last one with the artist in the shot ... were you able to get more with the artist???

See if you can get in touch with them again and try and get a shoot happening with them.

Simon, thanks.
The 'artist' shot is actually a bit misleading. I was standing there taking shots, and a guy walked past and asked me if I would like an action shot. I said OK, not knowing what to expect, and he pulled a spraycan out of his bag and started to pretend to be spraying!

However, I did see the artist's name written on the wall somewhere. Didn't take a photo of it, but I might try and contact them; some in-progress shots would be a lot of fun.

cheers,
