Is there artistry in a non blended panorama?
Posted By: MikesChevelle, 01-28-2010, 03:17 PM

So I took this with an old point and shoot or I would enter it into the panorama contest, but is there a coolness to a purposely unblended panoramic shot?

I think there is. I did one of the NYC skyline shot from NJ and didn't make it all match. I even left the edges rough. I got lots of advice on how to "fix" it but I actually kind of like it the way it is.

In the case of this example, it works very well. I'd guess that it depends on the subject matter and the execution.

reminds me of one of those centerfolds you may find in a magazine (ahem, like sportsillustrated), with each segment being page sized and folded up.

i think this shot looks great and it certainly adds it's own character to it.

You know Mel, I like that idea of yours of "I like it, I don't care what you say". Isn't that the essence of art?

They're not mutually exclusive! I like it too, and you can be as weird as you want

Be careful: it may turn into a new fad...like HDR...and it will lose its cool.
