House sparrow models for my new 400mm
Lens: 400mm Camera: K20D Photo Location: My backyard ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F8

Recently picked up my first telephoto lens on ebay. Well its my first real lens after the 55-200mm. The manual sigma 400/5.6 APO. Was hand holding it because I was too dam lazy to lug my 8 pound 700dx around. The quality of the jpeg is pretty bad so I can fit some more in the pentax forum galleries. Still its pretty sharp for a 55/100 jpg quality.

Welcome to the 400 Club Xcom. I love this focal length. I see you have discovered the joy of branches as well. Those danm things are always in the way. Looking forward to more of your efforts with this one.

Yep if I had more hair I would be pulling it. You hear every so often about some nut job going around cutting down trees on his own. In a few years I will be that man.

Congrats on the new lens. Keep the pics coming

I have the same lens and I would not part with it. A lot of people will tell you that the older sigma 400mm lenses are not worth having, but I have been really pleased with mine. Nice, almost Pentax like colors. Mine has the gold "APO" on the side, manual focus and 72mm filter thread. I have some photo's with it on my flickr here; Flickr: Search 7.62lew's photostream
