Road Trip Through California, Arizona and Nevada Part 1
Camera: Pentax K10D Photo Location: Western USA

After we got back from our few months experimental living in Spain we went on a three weeks road trip in the Western USA. We started in San Francisco. I wish we had spent more time there but we only had time for a fleeting visit.

We then headed down the coast towards Los Angeles via Big Sur which was a beautiful run and seemed to go on for ever. Near this spot we came across a poor guy who had locked himself out of his car and was trying the old length of bent wire trick to try to catch the door mechanism through the one inch gap in the top of the window. Hope he succeeded. He was a long way from anywhere!

We stopped off to see the Santa Barbara Old Mission

and Venice Beach

Had a great time in LA. Went to Universal Studios. My attempt to capture some of the action at the Waterworld show. Wish I had been packing a more powerful zoom.

and caught a glimpse of Superman and Batman in Hollywood in conference over how they were going to deal with the latest crime wave

This show was probably better than the film and was certainly one of the highlights of the day at Universal.

Looks like you had a good time.

Is it just me, or, are these shots rather soft?

Yeah, we really enjoyed our time in the Western USA. I've been through the shots and put some settings info on the above images now. They were all taken with the kit lens. I notice I used F16.0 throughout. Perhaps I would have been better going to F11 to get more sharpness? The Superman and Batman one was quite heavily cropped. They are all resized and optimised for the internet in PSP Photo before uploading.
