I live close to Mississippi river,so am able to get there most every day,I go to an
island with causeway were I can bring my huskey and give her a good run,I get
a good walk,I'm old
Pulled up yesterday, parked, leaned back to unlock reardoor
to let dog out and seen eagle coming, straight away. Was able to grab camera
power up,zoom in,turn lens to infinity and shoot,no time to focus, just react.
Thats first image, pure luck.Time from first sight to first shot-10 seconds at most.
Lost sight of bird in viewfinder, dropped rig, followed bird to what is in 2nd shot.
In 2nd, bird that I first seen&shot is out of frame(upper left) after hitting juvenile
on left and almost dropping it in water, right wingtip went in,can see disturbance.
Mature bird on right, hit juvenile on right,at same time, looked like it was going
to attack again from below, juvenile presented 2 reasons why that wasnt good
ideal.Ive seen this on 3 occasions before,but never this close.(about 80 meters)
Very violent, somewhat hard to watch.Certainly difficult to photograph, not
techinically, but emotionally. How do the pros do it? the detattachment that allows
them to keep shooting? I couldnt, I could do little but stare in shock.
