Its funny I haven't "read" anything about K-7 in a long time so I had not heard that from anyone until now... but it sounds about right from what I've noticed.
Its one of the reasons I was hesitant to take it to weddings when I first got it. The images from this camera are unlike anything else I've ever shot in so many ways its hard to nail down all of the specific characteristics. But it seems to have much higher inherent contrast than my Canon 1D or my K20 which is probably where the clipping comes in. I often reduce the contrast on the images slightly which also saves a bit of DR when working from RAW. The bottom line though - is that my workflow with images from k-7 is entirely different than my workflow from my other cameras
These images did not get the same love and attention as the photos I sold... these were just quickly uploaded to some local riding forums for advertising. Those guys don't notice things like clipped highlights
For a lot of sports work I really like this look but for my studio work I have stayed with K20D.
