Greenlandic Wild flowers
Posted By: Duplo, 07-01-2007, 11:04 PM

My apologies to you all, I have been lying to you.

I have previously stated that there is no flora worth photographing where I live. Set aside a few green/brownish bushes.

That is not true, there actually is some pretty interesting wild flowers around I have just not notised it before...

Well how can you miss a flower you might ask, well it all boils down to size and numbers.

They are soo tiny and pretty far between, I have been working so dedicated to capture the scenics that I have competely missed these little wonders. Well this post is an attempt to corect that mistake.

This tiny pink flower is what seems to be the most common wild flower where I live:

Here is a photo to give you an idea of the size:

We also have a lot more rare and slightly bigger white flower:

and again to give you an idea of the size:

We also found one of these odd "flowers" (1:1 macro):

After having found these small thingys I have promised myself to bring the macro lens a lot more and document any wild flower I can find here. I know we have the odd dandelion too, but do we have any others?
Thanks for reading through this, to me, rather surprising discovery.

Great photos Thomas. If someone showed me the first photo and told me it was from Greenland I would not have believed them. A very interesting thread and some fine flowershots. The last one is almost like a sea anemone.

Cheers

Eddie

Thank you Eddie.
Well then you are about as surprised as I were.
Actually the last one lives on a rock formation without any soil to feed from... I am not entirly sure how it does that...

Shame on you!!

Hi Thomas!

Shame on you for keeping such fragile and tiny beauty from us until now!

I guess you can be forgiven because they are so teensy.

Seriously, those are really beautiful and I'm glad you found them. Hope to see more soon!
