Butterflies Everywhere
Posted By: Photo Tramp, 07-02-2007, 03:22 PM

Some shots of our back yard entertainment this summer. We have planted 4 butterfly bushes in pots on the deck this spring and they are really starting to produce many different visitors. Some that we want and some we don't.
All shots were taken with the Pentax istDL with the DA 50-200mm.

First the Twins.

Hay bug off.

Just a nice shot.

I hope you enjoy.

Nice crisp shots with good saturation David. Perhaps you'll get a chance in the future to get in even closer.

Thank You for the kind words Paul. I would love to have an FA 100mm f2.8 macro for these little guys, but alas that would be in the close future. For now I'll have to settle for the DA 50-200mm. These butterflies are only about 2 inches all in all. But I think the DA 50 -200mm did a very good job. It's really neat to watch them for the past few days. I have even been allowed to touch them and have them sitting on my finger for a few seconds before they take flight back to the bushes for the sweet nectar these beautiful bushes produce. I can't wait for later in the season when the monarchs come by on their way back to South America.

Great shots and I love all the colour from the butterflies and the flowers. The butterflies are everywhere here and have a decent opportunity here and there for some shots so take the opportunity while you can.

Great lighting here. The shots have rich colour with good details there. These butterflies are quite unique there.
