Less is more???
Posted By: Tom Lusk, 07-02-2007, 04:22 PM

Or so I'm hoping with this simple shot:

I was waiting for some birds to show up this evening when I noticed the nice light on some wild tiger lillies.

I like this. Red, green, yellow blue. Bold, clear, it's about line and colour, with no room for wussy pastels. Yet on closer inspection, there's still some subtle detail, so an interesting finish, to use a wine analogy (about which I know nothing).

Could do with getting rid of the dust on the sensor though.

I make it 5 dust spots, Chris!

Thanks!

I make it 7... there are 5 obvious ones, and another two near the top of the right hand flower, just above and just below the tip at the edge.

Edit.. actually maybe 8 or even 9, also one very faint one towards the bottom left, and another at the same level towards the right.

But the photo itself is fab.

Tom, in this case, less is - indeed - more. I like it a great deal.

I missed my chance!

I should have titled this - Contest! Guess the # of dust spots!

Thanks for the encouragement Jer and Chris!

I think I've removed all but one dust particle. I can see it on photos, but not on the sensor??? Back to cleaning...

The colors rock. THe composition doesn't really do it for me, but also not sure if it could have been done differently and been any more pleasing.

I really like the lighting in this shot. Not sure about the all-blue-sky background. I wonder how it would look cropped to remove most of the stem?

You Guys have me worried about my eyesight. I've been really struggling to see those dust spots. I did get a free eye test offer through the post yesterday; perhaps I need to take it up! Great picture Tom; crisp, nice colours and dramatic composition.

Wonderful shot here Tom and the colours are fantastic! Did you get those birds too or did they stay away so you could take more flower pics?
