Let me start by saying I'm sorry that the picture isn't better. You might understand after reading the story.
While I was out with Asad_Masede on Sunday in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada we ended up at the arts center where they were having a demonstration with several hundred people.
I had on my severe overkill for the situation Sigma 135-400 and wasn't going to try changing lenses in this crowd
Then out of the corner of my eye I saw an insect dive bombing someone there, and I watched it as it landed on one of the microphones. To my amazement it ended up being a Dragonfly
And it actually stayed on the mic for more than a moment.
It was tough photographing anything, with the steady stream of foot traffic passing by, so I was amazed that I had the chance to raise my camera. I extended the lens to 400mm and somehow took the picture.
Here it is
I should mention that I've never seen a dragonfly so far away from a body of fresh water making it an even more unusual photo.
