Some animal shots
Posted By: smcclelland, 07-03-2007, 10:00 AM

Being back home for the canaday day weekend, the wife and myself thought we might take some pictures of the family pets while we could. Results turned out decent, the hard part was getting the pets to obey

Nice sharp photos. I like the last one best; what caught your cat's attention?

You'll laugh at this, but nothing would catch her attention for even a second... I ended up just laying beneath her on the chair until she gave an interesting pose or look and then snapped. The last one I think she just grew tired of me pestering her so she gave the look of "fine, just this once and then go away" Fun subjects to shoot though, I was especially pleased with the detail of the cats fur with the 18-55 lens.

I wish my border collie would stay still for one second to take a decent shot ... I need to learn to do panning just to keep up with her.

thankfully the Daschund is older and very tame, the second you even look at her she gets excited and will pose for you. The cat is a different story, she'll let you get a good shot of her at her convenience as she often roams the house at her own convenience and only seeks human attention when she needs to go outside. I've yet to get a decent shot of the Papillion/Chihuahua as she's just a pup and gets frightened by the sight of my camera (plus she's got a very dark black coat that makes focussing an interesting challenge). I'll hopefully have some more pics to add this week of the pup.

Wonderful pet shots and great composition to boot. I love the first shot but I'm a dog person and he just looks like a fun dog to be around.
