Albaicin, Granada, Spain

These shots were taken in Albaicin, the Moorish neighbourhood of Granada -- a World heritage site and with good reason. What an incredible place! Ancient narrow streets and graffiti all chock-a-block with racing mopeds, cars squeezing through impossible gaps and the best food and drink party scene going.

A brutal stomach bug meant I was in bed two days out of three, but that could not stop me from getting out between the incessant rain to grab shots.

I'll post more later, especially of the crazy street art.

This first shot is getting printed big and is going on my wall.

Taken with the DA12-24 except the moped. That was the FA77. Also on the trip was the FA43. But next time I leave the tripod at home. Pentax users need no tripod -- SR for the win!

I like the first 2 shots. #3 is a little odd - it makes me wonder what those worms are doing.
I'd definitely like to see more of the street art.
I hope your stomach is feeling better.

Hey thanks! I've been over the stomach bug for a few days but it was highly annoying to get it in the one week of the year when I am actually on holiday! I had thought it was from travelling to a different bacterial ecosystem, but actually some folk back home had the same thing. So who knows.

Four more from Albaicin

outlook from Calle de Almanzora Baja

A break in the clouds on an otherwise overcast day.

(Damn that wire. Should spend an hour getting rid of it.)

Looking up from the classic Moorish courtyard of Casa Del Capitel Nazarí. A lovely place to stay in the perfect location. Everywhere, simply everywhere, had these same stone patterned floors. (Different patterns, though!)

Another great bunch of shots - I dig the first one, particularly.

Thanks Jer. Yes, the first shot is a "proper photo", the others are more or less snapshots.

I now have a thread for street art shots. You can now see where those worms come from!

Very nice shots, Robin. Snapshots or not, you have a good eye ! I really like the first one, "from worms to the sky", and "outlook from Calle de Almanzora Baja".

These pictures evoke sweet memories of my trip to Andalucia, back in 2003.
